Slim offshore squid of southern Australian shelf and shelf-break waters, common bycatch on tuna and snapper trips. Caught on small jigs in 50-200 m. Different from inshore southern calamari — softer and used more as bait or for cooking quickly.
Generally fished with light tackle — match gear to the conditions and the size of fish you expect.
