There is a reason most of us learned to fish in the estuary — it forgives a lot and gives back more. A run-out tide draining a weed bank, a quiet flick under the mangrove edge, and somewhere down there a bream eases off the oysters or a flathead lifts out of the sand to eat. Brackish, sheltered and endlessly readable, it is the water AU anglers come back to all their lives.
