Common east-coast offshore flathead of NSW and southern QLD, often the main catch when drifting clean sand in 20-100 m. Paternoster rigs with squid, pilchard or octopus tentacle do the job. Recognised by clean blue spots on the tail.
Generally fished with medium tackle — match gear to the conditions and the size of fish you expect.
