Medium-sized snapper with decent fight, found over reefs and seagrass beds in NSW, QLD and WA. Target with small soft plastics, jigs or live baits in 10-50m, working structure and weed edges. Not as highly prized for eating as some other snappers, but still a fun catch.
Generally fished with light tackle — match gear to the conditions and the size of fish you expect.
No seasonal pattern for bluestripe snapper yet. Seasons shift with water temperature and local conditions — check state fisheries advice and recent local reports before planning a trip.
