Northern Australian sand flathead found from WA across to QLD, common over inshore sand and mud in 5-50 m. Light paternoster bait fishing and small soft plastics produce well. Smaller than the southern sand flathead but plentiful.
Generally fished with light tackle — match gear to the conditions and the size of fish you expect.
