Bright orange-red deepwater scorpionfish of southern Australian shelf and slope, common as a bycatch on hapuku and ling trips. Caught on paternoster rigs in 100-400 m. Excellent eating but handle carefully — venomous spines.
Generally fished with medium tackle — match gear to the conditions and the size of fish you expect.
