Bright red tropical reef snapper of northern Australian shelf and reef, a staple of NT and QLD commercial and rec catches in 30-100 m. Caught on bait and slow jigs over offshore reef. Excellent eating; the classic 'red' of the tropics.
Generally fished with medium tackle — match gear to the conditions and the size of fish you expect.
