Mid-sized schooling tuna common in offshore Australian waters, mainly used as bait or for sashimi when bled well. Caught on small metals, feather jigs and trolled skirts. Often the species causing tuna boil-ups off NSW and southern QLD headlands.
Generally fished with medium tackle — match gear to the conditions and the size of fish you expect.
