Schooling small bright-red shelf and reef fish of NSW, VIC, TAS and southern WA waters. Caught on paternoster rigs in 30-200 m on the shelf. Smaller than large-mouth nannygai but excellent table fish, often a deepwater drift target.
Generally fished with light tackle — match gear to the conditions and the size of fish you expect.
