Offshore schooling whiting of QLD and northern NSW shelf waters, mainly a commercial species but readily caught by rec anglers on light paternoster gear in 20-50 m. Smaller and stockier than sand whiting; fine eating when chilled fresh.
Generally fished with light tackle — match gear to the conditions and the size of fish you expect.
