Deepwater southern shelf flathead of NSW, VIC and TAS, the main commercial flathead and a prized rec target in 40-200 m. Drifted over sand and mud bottoms with paternoster rigs and squid or pilchard. Excellent eating; lighter and firmer than estuary flathead.
Generally fished with medium tackle — match gear to the conditions and the size of fish you expect.
