Southern Australian estuary and bay mullet found from southern WA across to NSW. Targeted with small baits (worm, dough, prawn) under a float in berley trails, especially around jetties and rock walls. A great livebait and an underrated table fish when bled and iced fresh.
Generally fished with ultralight tackle — match gear to the conditions and the size of fish you expect.
No seasonal pattern for yellow-eye mullet yet. Seasons shift with water temperature and local conditions — check state fisheries advice and recent local reports before planning a trip.
