Tropical estuary at Cooktown, gateway to Cape York. Barramundi and mangrove jack on the snags, threadfin salmon in the deeper holes, with queenfish and trevally at the mouth on bait runs. Crocs throughout.

Situation. A ridge of high pressure extends over the northern Queensland waters from a high [1035 hPa] centred over the southern Tasman Sea. This pattern will persist over coming days as the high slowly weakens.
