Field notes
Granite island 9km off Narooma surrounded by reef and bommies in 20-40m. Resident kingfish hold year-round with peak runs Dec-Apr; marlin and tuna work the shelf nearby in autumn. Western side offers shelter in easterlies. Sanctuary zones cover parts of the island - check NSW DPI Fisheries marine park maps.

Situation. A trough is crossing the coastal waters, with a low pressure system forming within the trough off the south coast. The low will then head further offshore and remain over the Tasman Sea for the next several days, whipping fresh to strong southerly winds and large powerful waves to the coastline mid to late this week.
Tuesday 19 May until midnight. Gale Warning for Tuesday for Eden Coast Winds: Southwesterly 25 to 30 knots, reaching up to 35 knots offshore south of Merimbula. Seas: 2.5 to 3 metres. 1st Swell: Northeasterly 2 to 2.5 metres. 2nd Swell: South to southwesterly 1 to 1.5 metres north of Green Cape. Weather: Partly cloudy.
Wednesday 20 May. Gale Warning for Wednesday for Eden Coast Winds: Southwesterly 20 to 30 knots, reaching up to 35 knots offshore south of Merimbula early in the morning. Seas: 2 to 3 metres. 1st Swell: South to southwesterly 1 to 1.5 metres inshore, increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres offshore north of Merimbula. 2nd Swell: Northeasterly 1.5 to 2 metres, tending easterly 1.5 metres by early evening.
