Field notes
Granite island 9km off Narooma surrounded by reef and bommies in 20-40m. Resident kingfish hold year-round with peak runs Dec-Apr; marlin and tuna work the shelf nearby in autumn. Western side offers shelter in easterlies. Sanctuary zones cover parts of the island - check NSW DPI Fisheries marine park maps.

Situation. North to northwesterly winds over Coastal Waters ahead of a vigorous cold front crossing the waters late today into Sunday. Winds turning westerly in behind the front before tending southwesterly to southerly as a high pressure ridge begins to form over the NSW coast. The ridge will persist into the new week.
Saturday 5 September until midnight. Strong Wind Warning for Saturday for Eden Coast Winds: Northerly 15 to 20 knots turning westerly in the evening. Winds reaching up to 30 knots offshore in the late evening. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres offshore. Swell: Southerly around 1 metre. Weather: Partly cloudy. 50% chance of showers. The chance of a thunderstorm offshore south of Merimbula in the late afternoon and evening.
Sunday 6 September. Gale Warning for Sunday for Eden Coast Winds: Westerly 20 to 30 knots, reaching up to 35 knots offshore south of Merimbula during the morning. Winds turning south to southwesterly 15 to 25 knots during the day. Seas: 2 to 3 metres, decreasing to 1 to 1.5 metres later in the evening. Swell: Southerly around 1 metre, tending southwesterly 2 to 4 metres during the morning, then tending southerly 1 to 2 metres around midday. Weather: Partly cloudy.
Monday 7 September. Winds: Southwesterly 15 to 20 knots increasing to 20 to 30 knots during the morning then turning southerly 20 to 25 knots during the afternoon. Seas: Around 1 metre, increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres during the morning. Swell: Southerly 1 to 2 metres, decreasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the afternoon or evening. Weather: Partly cloudy. 60% chance of showers.
