Shallow Derwent estuary with extensive mud flats north of Hobart. Light-tackle flathead and the occasional school of cocky salmon. Best fished on a making tide from the shoreline tracks.

Situation. A high pressure centre over the Tasman Sea is directing a northwesterly flow over Tasmania. A strong cold front is forecast to move over the state from the west late Wednesday and another cold front follows on Thursday, bringing strong west to southwesterly flow across the state, persisting into Friday and easing during Saturday.
Tuesday 21 July until midnight. Strong Wind Warning for Tuesday for Far North West Coast Winds: Northwesterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 30 knots south of King Island in the late evening. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1 to 2 metres south of King Island. Swell: West to southwesterly 1.5 to 2.5 metres. Weather: Cloudy. 95% chance of showers south of King Island, 50% chance elsewhere.
Wednesday 22 July. Strong Wind Warning for Wednesday for Far North West Coast Winds: Northwesterly 20 to 25 knots turning westerly 20 to 30 knots during the morning. Seas: 1.5 to 2.5 metres. Swell: West to southwesterly 2 to 3 metres, increasing to 2 to 4 metres later in the evening. Weather: Cloudy. Near 100% chance of showers. The chance of a thunderstorm in the morning and afternoon. Possible small hail in the afternoon and evening.
Thursday 23 July. Winds: West to southwesterly 25 to 30 knots increasing to 30 to 35 knots in the early afternoon. Seas: 2 to 3 metres, increasing to 2.5 to 4 metres inshore around midday. Swell: Southwesterly 2 to 4 metres, increasing to 4 to 6 metres south of King Island. Weather: Cloudy. 95% chance of showers, with possible small hail.
