Regulations change. Always verify with the relevant state fisheries authority before fishing.
Introduced European perch — widely established and declared a pest in many southern Australian waters (VIC, NSW, TAS, SA, WA). Targeted with small lures, soft plastics, bait and flies in lakes and slower rivers. Excellent eating but illegal to release alive in most states.
Generally fished with ultralight tackle — match gear to the conditions and the size of fish you expect.
Declared noxious in most AU states — do not release alive.
Introduced pest, but tasty and freely targeted.
