Tropical and subtropical reef fish (also called nor-west snapper or yellow sweetlip) found across northern Australia and down to mid-WA. Targeted with bait and soft plastics over coral and rubble in 5-50m. Excellent eating — Ningaloo and the Pilbara are renowned grounds.
Generally fished with medium tackle — match gear to the conditions and the size of fish you expect.
