Situation. North to northwesterly winds over Coastal Waters ahead of a vigorous cold front crossing the waters late today into Sunday. Winds turning westerly in behind the front before tending southwesterly to southerly as a high pressure ridge begins to form over the NSW coast. The ridge will persist into the new week.
Saturday 5 September until midnight. Strong Wind Warning for Saturday for Illawarra Coast Winds: Northerly 15 to 25 knots turning west to northwesterly in the late afternoon. Winds reaching up to 30 knots offshore south of Port Kembla in the late evening. Seas: Around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 2 metres around midday. Swell: Southerly around 1 metre. Weather: Mostly sunny day. The chance of a thunderstorm offshore in the evening.
Sunday 6 September. Strong Wind Warning for Sunday for Illawarra Coast Winds: Westerly 20 to 25 knots, reaching up to 30 knots during the morning and early afternoon. Winds turning southerly 15 to 25 knots in the early afternoon. Seas: 1.5 to 2.5 metres. Swell: Southerly below 1 metre, increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres during the morning. Weather: Sunny.
