Default 'trevally' for most of southern and eastern Australia. Schools work bays, estuaries, breakwalls and inshore reef. Targeted with bait, small jigs and soft plastics around structure, often in berley trails. Hard fighters on light gear; bleed and ice for best eating.
Generally fished with light tackle — match gear to the conditions and the size of fish you expect.
Vernacular 'trevally' spans many species — ciguatera risk increases sharply with size in tropical Caranx (GT, bluefin trevally).
