Field notes
Sheltered bay at Dover with three small islands breaking the chop. Flathead and calamari work the weed edges, with silver trevally and Australian salmon through the cooler months. Good base for trips out to the Actaeons and Recherche Bay.

Situation. A blocking high over the Tasman Sea directs a warm northwesterly flow over Tasmania this week. A weak trough lingers over the state today. A decaying cold front is expected to move over Tasmania on Friday, with a stronger cold front forecast to quickly follow on Saturday.
Wednesday 21 October until midnight. Winds: South to southwesterly 10 to 15 knots tending south to southeasterly in the evening. Seas: Below 1 metre. Swell: Southwesterly 1 to 2 metres, increasing to 2 to 3 metres around midday. Weather: Mostly sunny.
Thursday 22 October. Winds: Variable about 10 knots becoming northeast to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots before dawn then becoming northeasterly 15 to 20 knots in the early morning. Winds reaching up to 25 knots south of King Island during the day. Seas: Below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 2 metres during the morning. Swell: Southwesterly 1.5 to 2.5 metres, increasing to 3 to 4 metres south of King Island. Weather: Mostly sunny.
Friday 23 October. Winds: Northwest to northeasterly 15 to 25 knots tending west to northwesterly 10 to 15 knots during the afternoon then tending west to southwesterly during the evening. Seas: 1 to 2 metres, decreasing to 1 metre during the afternoon or evening. Swell: Southwesterly 2 to 3 metres. Weather: Partly cloudy. 70% chance of showers. Central North Coast: Stanley to Northern Tip of Flinders Island
