Field notes
Northern wall of the Clarence River mouth, opposite Yamba. Mulloway on the deep holes at the back of the wall, bream and tailor along the rocks, flathead off the sand. Big jewfish are caught here every year on live bait at night.

Situation. A strong high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is maintaining northeasterly winds across the coastal waters. Very little change of weather pattern is forecast through the week due to the slow movement of the high. Then, a cold front looks set to cross the state during the weekend into early next week, bringing a southerly change in its wake.
Wednesday 21 October until midnight. Winds: Northeasterly 15 to 20 knots. Seas: Around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres offshore south of Yamba by early evening. Swell: East to northeasterly 1 to 1.5 metres. Weather: Cloudy. 90% chance of showers. The chance of a thunderstorm.
Thursday 22 October. Winds: Northeasterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 25 knots offshore south of Yamba in the late morning and early afternoon. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres south of Cape Byron during the morning. Swell: Northeasterly around 1 metre. Weather: Cloudy. 80% chance of rain. The chance of a thunderstorm in the early morning.
