Big river entrance with breakwalls either side and deep holes inside the bar. Mulloway move on the change of tide, mangrove jacks hold in the snags upriver, summer whiting in the sandy stretches. Bar can be treacherous in NE swell - check Coastalwatch before crossing.

Situation. A strong high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is maintaining northeasterly winds across the coastal waters. Very little change in weather pattern is forecast through the week due to the slow movement of the high. A cold front is then forecast to cross the state during the weekend into early next week, bringing a southerly change in its wake.
Thursday 22 October until midnight. Winds: Northeasterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 25 knots south of Cape Byron in the late morning and early afternoon. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres south of Cape Byron. Swell: Northeasterly around 1 metre inshore, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres offshore during the afternoon. Weather: Cloudy. 80% chance of rain. The chance of a thunderstorm in the late afternoon and evening.
Friday 23 October. Winds: Northeasterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 25 knots offshore south of Cape Byron in the evening.
