Wide tropical system on the western Cape York coast. World-class barramundi and threadfin water — fish the rockbars and creek mouths on the run-out, with black jewfish and golden snapper on the deeper holes. Crocs everywhere.

Situation. A weak ridge of high pressure extends across Gulf waters from a high [1035 hPa] centred over the Tasman Sea. This pattern will persist over coming days.
Wednesday 21 October until midnight. Winds: North to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots, reaching up to 20 knots south of Kowanyama in the late morning and afternoon. Winds shifting west to southwesterly in the afternoon. Seas: Around 1 metre. Swell: North to northeasterly below 1 metre. Weather: Sunny.

Winds: East to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots tending northwest to northeasterly 15 to 20 knots in the early afternoon then tending northwest to southwesterly 10 to 15 knots in the evening. Seas: Around 1 metre. Swell: North to northeasterly below 1 metre. Weather: Sunny morning. The chance of a thunderstorm south of Kowanyama in the afternoon and evening.
