Regulations change. Always verify with the relevant state fisheries authority before fishing.
Ancient bonytongue native to a handful of QLD and northern Australian rivers and impoundments. Targeted with surface lures, small hardbodies and flies in still water around timber and lily edges. Spectacular surface strikes — strict catch-and-release in most fisheries and protected in others.
Generally fished with light tackle — match gear to the conditions and the size of fish you expect.
Almost universally released — fragile fish and poor table quality.
